A Sunny Soquel Thanksgiving

November 28, 2009

I headed home for American Thanksgiving this year. My mom, sister, and I cooked up a storm so when the family all descended on the house there wasn’t much to do other than go to the beach and go for a walk. It was so nice to see the sun, so I was happy even though we didn’t really walk, it was more like a “take a few steps and stop and look around” type outing. So here are a few photos from my Thanksgiving.

This is Maurice making fun of Robin for always putting on her model face for the camera.

“Daddy, water. You help me”

“Look Marlo, chickens.”

(Old Granddad  is Marlo’s name for her great grandfather and my grandfather).

Such a cute little pumpkin.

Tasty Tuesday #5

November 24, 2009

Another installment of Tasty Tuesdays. This fruit was shot on the same trip as the previous installment of Tasty Tuesday. This one was shot in New Zealand. It was a very random roadside attraction. Got to love those crazy Kiwi’s.

Tasty Tuesdays

November 17, 2009

Tasty Tuesdays is something my my friend Reuben Krabbe started a while back. Reuben tends to have good ideas. This sometimes makes me insanely jealous and I have to tell him that he sucks* at photography just to make myself feel better.

So, I have been playing along with Tasty Tuesdays for four weeks now. This photo comes from 2006, when I had a layover in Hong Kong, on my way way down to New Zealand to visit my sister (who was living there at the time). This is one of my favorite point-and-shoot photos. This building is lit by light reflecting off, and emanating from another, much newer, building that wasn’t nearly as interesting

* Reuben doens’t actually suck at photography. If you would like to see some of his work, and enter to win a print of him check out his blog.

New Blog Design

November 13, 2009

I am not 100% sure what all I am doing here, but I am attempting to update my blog. In the process of updating to a new look though, I ended up destroying all of my old posts that were on my wordpress account. So it goes. All I can do is move on (though I will re-post some stuff). It turns out I actually did know what I was doing (sort of, and thanks to Google), so now all I need to do is update the photos so they are nice a big (which was a big reason I switched over to this new blog theme).

I would also like to take a minute to thank my all around awesome friend, Anita Sarrett, who helped me design a new logo and watermark. Some of her work can be found here. She also made one of the most amazing stop motion videos that can be seen on her flickr.

And, as this is a photo blog, here is one of the more recent photos I have taken. These are two dogs that I am watching til Sunday, I have nicknamed them Grumpy and Shithead (and I mean that in the most affectionate way, but between eating a camera cable and having a case of doggy diarrhea I think the name is appropriate) .
