This is the last Tuesday of 2009, which means it is the last Tasty Tuesday of 2009. So I thought that this photo was symbolically appropriate, but I’ll save my own commentary and you can find your own meaning for the photo. I will tell you where is comes from though; it was taken in a tunnel in Vietnam, while I was visiting the country back in 2006. I was at a “war memorial” in Vietnam and decided to crawl through about 50 feet of underground tunnel (there were miles of it), which was used as a living space and hideout during the “American War” in Vietnam. Over here we call it the Vietnam War, and there they call it the American War.

What are Tasty Tuesdays? And work by other TT members: Reuben Krabbe

Oh geeze! I know I am SUPER late with my Tasty Tuesday, but at least it is a day of the week that starts with a “T.” And I know that Matt and Reuben were late with there’s too, though I think I take the cake. Anyhoo, this one comes from Christmas (2007).  Merry Christmas!

I am heading back to California for a little pre-Christmas family time. So in honor of the trip I dug up this old photo from the archives. This one is from my Grandparent’s house in Sonoma. Their garage has turned into a family storage unit of sorts and this is my aunts preferred method of organizing her belongings.

Check out Rueben Krabbe and Matt Kerr’s sites for more delicious Tasty Tuesday photos,  including Kerr’s winner of me and Reuben.

One of my very dear friends, Jeremiah, is going to be getting married just a few months after me. So when he and Alison came to visit we had to do a mini-engagement shoot. We also wanted to go for a walk around Thetis, so we did a two-for-one outing.

Also, I have been playing around with GIFs a bit. So to start here is a mini video.

And now for some stills:

Congratulations to Alison and Jeremiah!

About a month ago I bought an Mamiya from one of my old teachers, Dave Aharonian. I have always wanted a twin lens reflex, so when I found out Dave was selling his Mamiya C330 I said “I’ll take it!” Well that isn’t entirely true, I did have to go home and sleep on it, but it didn’t take long to decide. It took me a few days to get some film in the camera and it took about a week to finish a roll. Funny I can take 26 pictures in 10 minutes with my D200 but it takes a week to shoot 12 shots on film… Hmmm. So here are a few shots from my first roll (the second roll is in the lab til tomorrow).

And this one (below) was taken by Ferris (pictured above).

She was practically drooling over the camera so I let her finish off the roll and take one of me.

More film to come. I am enjoying the square format.

But I need to get my horizon lines in order.

Another Tuesday and another photo from the archives. This one comes from Hawaii in 2007. My amazing grandparents asked me to fly with them to Hawaii a few years ago to help them settle into their condo. They go every year, but as they have gotten older (my grandfather turned 92 this year) they have needed a little assistance traveling and stocking up on groceries. I took this photo during “nap time.” And my grandfather is the creative mind behind the explanation mark (he also made a question mark, which sits on the opposing wall).

Find the one you love!

December 7, 2009

My dear friend Jeremiah and his fabulous fiance came over to Victoria this weekend and we all celebrated our upcoming nuptials.  We did a little “group engagement” photo shoot about finding the right person for you. Congratulations to Jeremiah and Alison and a big “I love you!” to my husband to be Kevin.
