I recently did a little photoshoot with Kristina Mai, a model here in Victoria. I have worked with her before (you may recognize her from my banner photo) and love that she brings such a great variety of clothes to the shoots we do together. Here are a few photos from our recent shoot together. And even though it is a little premature, Happy Birthday Kristina!

Post-Op (Tasty Tuesday #13)

January 26, 2010

This installation of Tasty Tuesday comes from almost exactly two years ago. I had just undergone my third (and last, *knock on wood*) knee operation. It was a pretty hardcore operation; arthroscopic operations hadn’t done the trick, so my surgeon decided they had to go in and carve up me knee, big time (hence the staples). Afterwards I was stuck in bed with me knee locked out straight for six weeks! Needless to say I went a little stir crazy. I didn’t take very many scenic photos while stuck in bed, so here is a diptych from my more immediate surroundings.

Getting staples taken out was on of the more distressing things I have ever had to experience.

Discarded

Kelsey Goodwin (my friend, and excellent photographer, kgoodphotoblog.com) and I have been trying to meet up a shoot for a while. I had been kicking around an idea involving abandoned furniture and Kelsey is always game to try something new. So I scouted out some abandoned furniture and away we went! We were shooting pretty close to the highway and I can’t count how many cars honked as they drove by. I have featured a few of Kelsey’s photos here, for more check out her blog here.

Yesterday I lent a hand to two fabulous photographer, Michael Tourigny and Veroniqu Da Silva. About a week ago Veronique came up with a very creative way to of raising money. She asked people to donate money directly to the Red Cross and in exchange they would receive two black and white photos, taken by either her or Michael. I showed up at 6:45 and by two minutes to seven we had our first guest. Later in the morning Chek News stopped in and by the end of the day we had all helped raise $4000. Here a few photos from the day.

THANK YOU! to everyone who stopped by and helped out.

This installation of TT come from May of 2007. I took this photo in the staff area of Chez Panisse, where I used to work. I think they must have been doing some sort of remodeling and this was the pipe they were getting ready to put down. This is the husband of one of the cooks (Hi Emily! *waving*). I love the effect the pipes created and may have to employ it again.

Another week and another Tuesday! And it looks like I need to find some more things to blog about! I did some assisting work the other day, which was good. Got me inspired to shoot some new stuff, which is good, because I have been in a serious rut. Back to Tuesday though. This TT addition comes from Cinque Terre in Italy. It is a beautiful area of five towns that are connected via rail and path, no cars. You should go. This was taken on a walk from one town to the other. Couldn’t tell you which ones though. Enjoy!

Before I moved to Canada my sister and I took a trip to Spain and Italy to visit some friends and travel around. Our first stop together was Madrid, to visit my wonderful friend Javier, who I met when I was living in Japan. Javier was kind enough to let us crash at his place and was an excellent tour guide. On one of our many walks around the city we stopped and took these photos.

For the second year, Kevin and I have gone over to Vancouver to spend New Years with our friends and do the Polar Bear Swim. We go with a big group of people and go all out in dressing up. Last year we were Mexican wrestlers and this year we went as the circus.  Here are just a few of the costumes from the New Years Polar Bear Circus Troupe.

Happy 2010! Thanks to the Prestons for hosting such wonderful party!
