I Can’t, I Have To Wash My Hair {Hornby, Part 3}

Did I get your attention with this blog title? I hemmed and hawed for a while about what to title this post, because really it is a photo shoot about a girl washing her hair in a sink. So how do you title it? “Emmy Washes Her Hair in an Old Sink” doesn’t really have a ring to it. Niether does “Pseudo-Boudoir Photo Shoot.” Blog post title aside this was a fun shoot. When Emmy, Rebecca, Jenn Dodd and I first arrived at the house on Hornby we all took a self guided tour and commented on what a great living room there was, how amazing the view of the ocean was, what great window light there was in the house and how big the bedrooms are. All the while I was thinking, what a great bathroom! Maybe I am just weird like that. The downstairs bathroom though, was great. It was huge, had an old double-faucet sink and a nice marble topped table next to it. So I started thinking, “It would be so cool to do a shoot of someone washing their hair in this sink.” I finally voiced this and wondered out loud how I could convince one of the girls who were coming model for us to wash her hair for me. No one had any suggestions and I honestly thought it might be a little odd to ask a high schooler to wash her hair while I take photos, so I was thrilled when Emmy later said she would do it.

Thanks Emmy for putting up with me, and even though that water stank (the tap water on Hornby has a high saline content and you should only drink bottled water) your hair looked extra shiny for the rest of the day.

Valentines Day is just around the corner, which I find hard to believe cause just yesterday it seemed like it was last year. I am now offering boudoir photography and am running an introductory promo.

Bella Boudoir Test Shoot

Yesterday I had the pleasure of playing around with the Bella Boudoir ladies, Karen and Jen, at their adorable studio on Herald St. They asked me to come in and do a little training with them in the hopes of having me lend a hand in the future, as they are getting too darn busy to do it all themselves. So, they brought in two models, Mallory – the blonde and Rowen – the brunette, and we all got to play around; playing with studio lights is one of my FAVORITE things to do. Here are a few shots from the test shoot. If you are interested in getting a boudoir photos done I cannot recommend better photographers, here in Victoria. Their info is all on their website, here.
