Midnight Picnic

Last month I went on a bit of a personal shoot bender. Okay, maybe it wasn’t a bender, I only did two shoots, but they did happen in the same week and it took weeks of prep to make em happen. One of them I am holding off on publishing til it is published on one of my favorite wedding blogs, but this one is ready to rock. I wanted to play around with some off camera flash and am pretty pleased with my experimenting. Big thanks to Kevin for being my human light stand and Stephanie and her boyfriend, Casey, for being ever so patient with me. The theme of the shoot was a midnight picnic, though I pretty quickly got them off the ground (and picnic blanket) and spent most of the time telling Kevin to “go stand over there and point the flash that way.”

In addition to playing with off camera flash I thought it would be fun to play with sparklers, which I think was a lot more fun for Stephanie and Casey. Instead of getting blasted in the face with a flash they got to wave around fire!
