Chasing Charlie : A Place For Dogs

I’ve been secretly scheming on a blog specifically for all my pet (mostly dog) photography and today I am happy to announce the Chasing Charlie is live.

"Pet Photography Victoria"

A huge thanks to Anita Sarrett for all her work in making Chasing Charlie look awesome! If you need design/branding work done, get in touch with her! Okay, stop reading and go check out some cute little wagging tails! Or head over to the new facebook page and give some love.

summer will be here before you know it

Time flies and summer, and the ensuing wedding season will be here soon. Just this morning I bought two plane tickets and am I working out the details for another. I am really excited for all that 2012 has in store and I still have a few more spots open for some more fun. If you are getting married in the Victoria/Vancouver region or the Bay Area of California (this includes pretty much anywhere from Santa Cruz to Napa to Sacramento), I would love to hear from you! As of now my availability for the year is:

  • January – CLOSED – this shouldn’t be surprising
  • February – One spot available
  • March - Two spots available
  • April – One spot available
  • May - Two spots available
  • June – Three spots available – did you know there are FIVE Saturdays this year in June!
  • July - Two spots available
  • August - Two spots available (maybe only one)
  • September - Three spots available (maybe only two)
  • October – Two spots available
  • November – One spot available
  • December – CLOSED

Also, to anyone planning a wedding please check out these awesome (and totally FREE) spreadsheets that the awesome ladies at Lowe House Creative and A Practical Wedding have put together. Also, if you are looking for sane wedding advice you should check out A Practical Weddings site in general. They have some great vendor recommendations and Meg, who runs the blog, also just published a book (which I have ordered). She just released these shareable ads today, which I found highly amusing. This one was my fave:

And if you are getting married in California and really want to stay super sane on your wedding day hire Elizabeth from Lowe House Creative. She is a no nonsense gal who knows how to throw a killer party (I worked with her at Anita and Wayne’s wedding last summer).

One last note, I do have a separate calendar for non-wedding shoots, so please get in touch if you are interested.

Christmas in Mexico {Personal}

Kevin and I spent Christmas this year with his side of the family down in Mexico. It was a great vacation, just not really Christmas-y. In fact we spent most of the 25th saying out loud, on numerous occasions, just how un-christmas-y we all felt. That said, going to a beach front condo in Mexico is nothing to complain about and I think we all had a great time. I’ll be honest with ya, I didn’t take that many pictures. I was pretty busy reading, sitting by the pool and walking the beach – all very time consuming endeavors. I did take a few though (and so did Kevin) and here are a few of my faves.

Joann - Love your pictures, as always. I particularly love the golf scenes.

One More Tribute {Personal}

I have been extremely bad about blogging lately and I know it. But life happens and honestly when I am too busy in “real” life to spend more time at my computer I am usually a happier person anyway.

Okay, enough with the excuses. Long time blog readers may remember a shoot I did last year after my Grandmother passed away. Basically very shortly after Audrey passed Mere and I decided to play “dress-up” and did a little photoshoot in Audrey’s clothes.

Well, now that my Grandpa Les is gone we decided to do the same thing. “Dressing up” in your Grandpa’s clothes isn’t quite as fun as dressing up in Grandma’s, but acting a little bit grumpy was pretty fun. I should clarify that my Grandpa wasn’t always grumpy, but in the last year of life he got old, fast, and he wasn’t thrilled about it. Can’t say I blame him.

If I am in a photo it means Kevin took it, and it’s possible he took some of the other ones too.

Joann - As always, I love your photos! And the specs!

Emily :: Senior Portraits

I had a great time photographing my second cousin Emily while I was back in California last week. She picked the PERFECT location for the shoot at – the lovely Gibson Ranch in Sacramento - and the weather couldn’t have cooperated more. She brought along her rather large horse, Splash, and as someone who hasn’t spent a ton of time around horses it still amazes me that a young woman like Emily can control a horse that big, so well. But Emily has spent her entire life on horses, so really I shouldn’t be that surprised. I am also excited to see where life in the next few years will take Emily, as next fall she will be off to college – she is still waiting to hear from a few schools, but she will be heading somewhere outside that State of California; that much is certain. All the best Emily!

For any other Sacrementans interested in portraits, Senior or otherwise, I will be back in town the week before Christmas and a few dates this summer.

Stefanie - Loved this session Jesse… So fresh and beautiful.

Too bad senior sessions weren’t more common in Canada. :)
